swatrecruiting's basic query

It's a pretty basic application of field search commands, Boolean logic, and search engine experience, but it works for simple searches...

Step 1.  In another browser window, load the swatrecruiting Basic Query Boolean search string into the advanced search mode on Altavista (in the advanced search mode) to create a large cache of resumes and homepages from around the world...

Basic Query Boolean Search Sting:

(title:resume* OR url:resume* OR title:cv OR url:cv OR title:"curriculum vitae" OR url:"curriculum vitae" OR title:bio OR url:bio OR title:homepage OR url:homepage)

Step 2.  Eliminate resumes and homepages that lack the right key words for skills and locations by adding additional search criteria.

Example:  If you were targeting a network engineer with design experience using BGP and PNNI in Chicago, your refined search might look like this:

(title:resume* OR url:resume* OR title:cv OR url:cv OR title:"curriculum vitae" OR url:"curriculum vitae" OR title:bio OR url:bio OR title:homepage OR url:homepage) AND "network engineer" AND BGP AND PNNI AND Chicago

swatrecruiting tip - For best results, add one new criteria at a time, re-running the search after each new criteria. Continue adding criteria to your search until you have 100 or less resumes - then begin looking at the results.  If the QuickStrike strategy doesn't hit the target and you need fast results, take a free trial of our SwatSearch passive candidate search tool to deliver quick results on your search project.
